Monaghan groups shine in National Tidy Towns competition

County Monaghan Tidy Towns groups have once again done us proud at the National Tidy Towns Awards today in Dublin. Glaslough were once again knocking on the door for the national title, falling just 3 points short of the overall winners, Skerries’ impressive score of 327.  However, they will take consolation in their County title, their Gold medal, their regional Youth Award (won jointly with Monaghan), and their CanIt! award.  Well done guys. Next year will be your year, we have a feeling!!

And what about Monaghan town!  Apart from the regional Youth award, they came away with TWO national category awards – Climate change and Local Authority Pollinator Award!  PLUS a Silver Medal!!  Glaslough and Carrickmacross had better watch out!!

And way to go Doohamlet, winner of the county Endeavour award, for making the most improvement in their marks from 2015 to 2016. Another one to watch!  Carrickmacross also took home a gold medal, which is awarded to groups who come within a certain percentage of the overall title winners. This must make them one of the most consistent groups in the country, having been awarded a gold medal for the last five years.

Well done to everyone.
