Orange is our Favourite Colour…..please make it yours, too!

orange-the-world-campaign-2016The PPN Secretariat took a few minutes out from their monthly meeting – followed by Christmas dinner – to reflect on one of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals: to end Violence against Women and Children. Co Monaghan had the highest reported number of incidents of domestic violence reported to the Gardai in 2015 in Ireland, making the Women’s Network’s support of the UN’s current ‘Orange the World’ campaign of 16 days of activism to bring attention to the issue of violence against women and children especially important. Christmas can often be a stressful time, with high expectations for a ‘perfect day’, family members spending longer periods of time together than usual, financial pressures and of course increased consumption of alcohol all contributing to a very volatile environment which can quickly spiral out of control.
