Do Borders Matter? The Role of Museums & Heritage in Crossing the Line

A conference hosted by the County Museum, Dundalk

What impact will the UK’s decision to leave the EU have on museums on the Irish border? That’s one of the key questions that will be explored as part of ‘Do Borders Matter?  conference that will be held in the County Museum Dundalk on Thursday, 25th October 2018.

This day of ideas, discussions and entertainment will look at the potential of shared history and heritage to act as a catalyst for positive social change, community development and peace-building.

The day will comprise of four panel discussions exploring the themes of:
• Looking to the Past (9.45am – 10.45am)
• Europe & the Regions (11am – 12.15pm)
• Looking Backwards – Walking Forwards (1.30pm – 2.45pm)
• What’s the Craic on the Border? (2.45 – 3.30pm)

Speakers will include:
• Author, playwright, filmmaker and coordinator of the AFTERMATH Project, Dr Laurence McKeown.
• Director of the National Museum of Ireland, Lynn Scarff.
• British literary journalist and editor, Alex Clark.
• Singer and musician Brendan Murphy from The 4 Of Us.
• Director of Northern Ireland Museums Council, Sinéad McCartan.
